Consul General Ono and his wife attended a ceremony in Castle Rock on June 8, 2014, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Colorado Okinawa Kenjinkai. The Colorado Okinawa Kenjinkai holds a biannual cultural event to introduce Okinawan arts & culture for local community members. For this year's anniversary event they invited two famous Okinawan dancers, Naoko Ahagon and Yukari Shimabukuro to perform. Various kinds of Okinawa cultural arts were performed on stage such as dance, music and martial arts, and the ceremony was enjoyed by Okinawa Kenjinkai members as well as many local people including US military soldiers who have been stationed on Okinawa before.
