Conferment Ceremony of Japan Imperial Decoration (December 6,2014)
A conferment ceremony in honor of Judge Raymond Uno was held at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 6th, in which Judge Uno received the Imperial decoration “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette”. 81 people attended the ceremony and following reception, including Judge Uno’s family members and friends, as well as Dr.Jeanette Misaka, a national JACL board member and governor of the JACL Intermountain District Council (a recipient of the Commendation of the Foreign Minister of Japan in 2013), and Utah State University professor Dr.William Higuchi, a recipient of the Imperial Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon in 2011 Consul General Ono expressed his highest respect for Judge Uno’s long time contribution to the promotion of Japan-US relations, including his dedication to preserve Japanese heritage and sharing traditional Japanese culture in the entire Utah region. In gratitude, Judge Uno expressed appreciation to his family and the people around him. Furthermore, Dr.Jeanette Misaka, a recipient of the Commendation of the Foreign Minister of Japan in 2013 was also recognized and gave remarks at the ceremony. Utah State Senator Ms.Jani Iwamoto delivered a congratulatory address towards both recipients, and also congratulatory letter from Utah Governor Gary Herbert were introduced.
