Economic Roundtable Discussions Hosted by New Mexico State Government (October 20, 2025)
On Monday, October 20th, New Mexico state government hosted two half-day economic roundtable discussions in Santa Fe, NM. Japanese Ambassador Yamada, Consul-General Okajima, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and other Japanese companies attended the seminar representing Japan. New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon attended the event along with representatives from both state governments, universities, and local companies. A reception was held at the New Mexico Governor’s Residence in the evening.
Both governors, who visited Japan last April, expressed their desire to continue strengthening economic relations with Japan, and Ambassador Yamada also expressed intentions to continue strengthening relationships with both states.
In addition to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by Fujitsu and New Mexico State University to establish a national testbed for high performance and edge computing technology, introductions and business overviews were given by JETRO and Japanese companies, and a lively exchange of thoughts took place on further strengthening economic relations between Japan and both states.
