Special Training College Students

This scholarship offers applicants the opportunity to spend up to 3 years at a Japanese special training school studying one of several fields. Please read the Guidelines linked below for further details.

(6) Nutrition
(7) Nursery Teacher Training
(8) Accounting and Bookkeeping
(9) Hotel Management
(10) Tourism
(11) Fashion, Dress making
(12) Design
(13) Photography
(14) Other

The general timeline for the 2025 scholarship application/selection process is outlined below:

LATE APRIL - MAY 1 MEXT scholarship application documents become available
JUNE 7 Application deadline
MID-JUNE Notification of being invited to interview
JUNE 24 Interviews and examinations take place (first screening)
MID-AUGUST Notification of results for the first screening
JANUARY 2025 Notification of secondary screening results (from MEXT)
MARCH 2025 Travel arrangements to Japan are made for the scholarship recipient
APRIL 2025 Departure for Japan and beginning of scholarship period

Application Deadline

Friday, June 7, 2024
Complete applications must be received by this date. Applications submitted after 5PM on June 7, 2024 will not be considered.

Interview and Test

The interview will take place on June 24, 2024 (this schedule is subject to change). The format of the interview will be announced in the notification of being invited to interview and exams. 

Written exams will be conducted in-person on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver.

You will receive an email from the MEXT Scholarship Coordinator with information on whether you are invited to test and interview, as well as any other pertinent details.
