Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program

Monbukagakusho (文部科学省), the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), offers six different scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. [Scholarships]
The following four scholarships are available to apply at the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver. Please check the link below for each scholarship application guideline, application procedure and screening schedule.

  3. Specialized Training College (Senshu-Gakko) Students
  4. Japanese Studies Students

[Jurisdiction]

ONLY U.S. CITIZENS LIVING IN COLORADO, UTAH, WYOMING, AND NEW MEXICO MAY APPLY THROUGH THIS CONSULATE.
U.S. citizens in other states should apply through the consulate responsible for their state. (See also: The Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C. website - How to Apply)
Non-U.S. citizens should apply through the Japanese Embassy in their country of citizenship.

The 2024 applications for the following MEXT Scholarships are now open

Applications must be submitted to the Consulate-General of Japan in Denver by Thursday, June 1, 2023. Applications received after 5 pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023, will not be considered.
